SUMMARY:

Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself

MY REVIEW:

I am speechless

The Cruel Prince is completely smart, captivating and utterly brilliant.

I am going to be completely honest, when this book came out I was trying to runaway from it because hype-books are usually a disappointment and I am afraid of Fairyland (completely my own issue)

Nevertheless, after hearing amazing reviews and seeing badass quotes like this one:

“If you hurt me, I wouldn't cry. I would hurt you back.”
― Holly Black, The Cruel Prince

I finally read the book! and let me tell you IT WAS LEGENDARY.

My absolute favorite new character is Jude Duarte she is such a strong female. So complex, witty and not afraid of having a dark side. Born human and fosters by her parents murderder she has been raised to believe she is less than the fey. She has to constantly prove her worth. Sometimes, when a book is written fantasy reflex reality. As an immigrant I completely relate to Jude. When I was learning English in the States I had to constantly prove that I was smarter and stronger than everyone. I had to prove that I was more than the labels they chose to put on me. Jude is truly an inspiration, utterly real as she was not overconfident or cocky or cruel, she was clever, a schemer and determined.

Holly black made a miracle in this book she made me want to live in Faerie Court. This shows another side of the fey. They still have riddles, and enchantments but this time our protagonist know their secrets. She has fey allies, she has a fey family, her home is fey and I think thats sometime very special about this book.

The writing style flow magnificently and in every page I was completely captivated. So much that I finish this book in one sitting.

I can’t express how amazing  this book was, and how much I related to it. Don't wait any longer and read The Cruel Prince by Holly Black.
